OTR/L, Founder of Carolina Sleep Therapy
Hi, I’m Molly Young
I’m an occupational therapist specializing in sleep therapy for pediatrics, adults, seniors and caregivers. I founded Carolina Sleep Therapy in 2024 to provide direct access to quality, evidenced-based sleep therapy.
I received my Master's in Occupational Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2019. After graduating, I moved with my husband to Virginia, then North Carolina, before finally resettling in Greer, South Carolina.
During this time, I worked as an occupational therapist with children at St. Mary’s Home in Norfolk, Virginia and with adults in skilled nursing and assistive living facilities in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
These experiences taught me that people of all ages are experiencing debilitating sleep problems. In the traditional medical system, there is a lack of care options available for individuals to get help with their sleep health.
My patients were being prescribed medications that were never meant for long-term use, or they were provided a CPAP machine with minimal follow-up care, leaving them feeling hopeless. As a trained occupational therapist, I knew more could be done to address the root causes of sleep issues, so I founded Carolina Sleep Therapy.
Even though sleep is essential to life, many medical physicians typically feel they do not have adequate sleep health training, and a minority of OTs provide substantial sleep health services. Outside my degree program, I completed additional courses in cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia, sleep physiology, pediatric sleep models and more. I extensively researched sleep science, disorders, and current evidence-based interventions for sleep concerns.
I am 100% confident in my ability to address whatever sleep issues my patients are experiencing. I can improve my patient’s daily functioning, cognitive functioning, physical task performance, and overall health by addressing sleep needs. Sleep therapy is my passion, and I look forward to helping you and your loved ones sleep better!
When not working, I enjoy hiking with my husband, Alex, playing with my cats, Lucy, Sammy and Genny, and reading under a nice, shady tree outside.
